Quote:This is a quick lesson on hand positioning. It helped me out a lot so I thought I would put it up here. Walk up to your bike from the side. Stick out your hand like you are going to shake somebody's hand and grab the bar. Your thumb can go under or straight out. Mimic that on the other bar. This will cause you to feel a little uncomfortable in a fully upright position but it does two things. First it gives you more flexibility to turn the throttle. Your hand is not 90 degrees to the bars ...

The Proper foot position for setting up when going into at turn is important for giving you the flexibility and extra leverage over the bike in high speed cornering situations.

In order to drag knee you will need to set up PRIOR to the turn: Foot should be on the peg using the ball of your foot with the heel rested on top of the heel guard. Doing this alone will automatically set your knee up with the proper 90* angle needed for knee dragging.

Combine that with you hanging your body ...

There are a number of things you can take to the track to enhance your experiance. Get a printout of the layout of the track an study each turn. While it as hard to get a feel for the track from a pic, you can get a rough idea from the length of the straightaways, the number of turns, and the severity of each turn.

Find out what amentities are at the track, such as whether or not the access along pit row where you will have to park is paved. Are there electrical outlets and facilities?

A cop just stopped at Burger King with me to let me know that there are a lot of bikes getting stolen in the area. Make sure you keep your bikes on lockdown. He said Suzukis are a main target, as well as anything that has a lot of work done to it. So, prez, might wanna keep that sexy beast under a tarp or somethin. Anyways, you guys stay safe. Well after the tech at the dealer wrote up a bogus report and denied my warranty claim I fought with them for about half a month and bought a motor. When the motor arrived at my house i got the bike from the deal ( about a month had passed since breaking down ) I brought the bike home and 2hrs later the warranty company calls and says they are re-reviewing my case.

Ok this is good news. I wait about ...

Basic Stoppie

Body position--specifically, keeping your body centered over the bike--is probably the most important aspect of pulling off a safe stoppie. You must first get your body dead-center over the middle of the bike with your head straight, shoulders squared and arms stiff. Having your body off-center is what's going to cause the back end to kick out once you get the back wheel up.

Once you're up to speed and your body is properly positioned, pull the clutch in and get on the ...

Basic Sit-Down

"Sit-downs are the easiest wheelies to do, but the hardest to explain. There are so many different ways to wheelie a sportbike, and some methods work better than others depending on the rider and machine. I'll explain what I do--but keep in mind, other riders might be lifting it up differently.

"There are two kinds of wheelies: power wheelies and clutched wheelies. A power wheelie uses the bike's motor to get the front wheel up. You get the revs up near the ...

Be sure to note descriptively the local, general directions, address, anything special to know, etc. If its a good riding spot the type of road, usual traffic, and police presence ( speed traps etc ) would be good info to post as well.
